Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera tore an Achilles tendon while going after a fly ball at the Yankees' Old-Timers' Day game Saturday and needs surgery. Agent Fern Cuza said the 55-year-old closer, baseball's career leader in saves,

Rivera was playing centerfield in the bottom of the first inning and was seen going to the ground on his own during an infield pop.

Even though it led to an injury that cost the Hall of Fame closer most of the 2012 season, Rivera played center field at his own peril again Saturday.
