Texas Longhorns football enters the 2025 season with a defense that is expected to be one of the best in the nation. Some players on this defense standout compared to the rest, including two preseason first-team All-American selections, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and safety Michael Taaffe.

The Texas Longhorns are officially the No. 1 team in America. The newly released AP Top 25 ranks UT as the top team, just like the Coaches Poll did.

After the coaches tabbed the Longhorns as the nation's top team last week, Texas was voted as the No. 1 team in the first AP Poll of the campaign released Monday. Since 2000, only USC and Alabama have won the national championship after starting the season ranked first.
