After months of negotiations and disputes, Pakistan and India have reportedly reached a consensus on a hybrid model for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. According to the agreement, the Indian team will play its matches at a neutral venue. If India fails to qualify for the final, the championship match will be hosted in Lahore.

The suspense over the 2025 Champions Trophy could end on Monday (16 December) with the International Cricket Council (ICC) reportedly set to announce the schedule of the tournament.

According to a report by IANS, some members of the PCB are unhappy with the way Pakistan accepted the decision regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 hybrid model. This is especially because of the compensations that PCB were offered.

Although Pakistan were awarded the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy in 2021, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had communicated to the ICC last month about the country’s government’s refusal to send its team across the border for the eight-team tournament.

A similar hybrid model was adopted during the men's 50-over Asia Cup last year, when Pakistan hosted the tournament.
