The National Day Laborer Organizing Network is hosting Friday's 6 p.m. event at 1625 Mountain Avenue in memory of the man who died.

Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdez was a 52-year-old from Guatemala. He lived in Arcadia, official said. The throng gathered Friday at the Monrovia Home Depot to mourn him and to call for an end to the Trump Administration’s recent amped-up immigration enforcement.

A man was hit and killed on the 210 Freeway Thursday in Monrovia as he was fleeing from an ICE operation at a Home Depot in Monrovia.

The man ran from the scene, crossed Evergreen Avenue and entered the eastbound 210 Freeway, said Monrovia City Manager Dylan Feik. CHP officers said they received a report just before 10 a.m. that someone had been hit by a SUV on the freeway near Myrtle Avenue.
