The New York architect facing murder charges in a string of deaths known as the Gilgo Beach killings on Long Island is challenging the DNA evidence against him and is seeking separate trials in the sprawling case.

The office argues nuclear DNA science is "generally accepted" within the scientific community and "based upon technology that has been implemented for decades."

Judge Timothy Mazzei will also hear from both sides to determine how much of the prosecution’s mountain of evidence will be admissible.
