Families were evacuated from their homes Thursday on Carver Street in Springfield as crews responded to a gas leak. Emergency crews, including the Springfield Fire Department and Eversource, responded after a gas line was cut.

Fire officials said just after noon that crews were on the scene of a gas leak at a building near the intersection of Southeast 92nd Avenue and Foster Road, and a full evacuation was underway. A KGW photographer found firefighters outside of Oliver Station, a five-story affordable housing complex.
