Normally, the second-tier prize for Mega Millions is $1 million. The ticket sold in Florida, however, was worth $5 million because it included the optional Megaplier, which is available for an extra $1 purchase, and on Tuesday it was 5 times the prize amount, officials said.

A Mega Millions player just missed a $619 million jackpot — but still scored a massive win in Florida. The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Dec. 10 drawing. Since the person spent an extra dollar on the Megaplier option, their $1 million prize rose to $5 million, results show.
