The European Central Bank is likely to continue to lower its key interest rate as the threat of U.S. tariffs clouds already weak growth prospects, President Christine Lagarde said Monday.Policymakers at the eurozone’s central bank lowered the key rate for their third straight meeting Thursday.

The European Central Bank will cut interest rates further if inflation continues to ease towards its 2% target as restricting economic growth is no longer necessary, ECB President Christine Lagarde said on Monday.

Investor bets on how much lower the European Central Bank’s interest rates will have to fall are relatively consistent with policymakers’ own assessments, according to Governing Council member Pierre Wunsch.
