"Our hearts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of DeKalb County Officer David Rose, who was tragically ambushed and killed in a shooting at Emory University in Georgia," JSO wrote. "Officer Rose dedicated his life to service, both to his community as a law enforcement officer and to his country as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps."

Flowers and other gestures have been placed near the crime scene as the community mourns the 33-year-old officer. Flags on county properties are flying at half-staff in his honor.
