Earlier in August, Trump deployed hundreds of National Guard members to Washington, D.C., as part of what he touted as an effort to reduce crime and root out homelessness.

Mayor Brandon Johnson told MSNBC on Sunday morning that "people will rise up against tyranny" if President Trump moves forward with his plan to send the national guard to police the streets of Chicago the way they're doing in Washington D.

President Trump said he was considering sending troops to cities like Chicago, New York and Baltimore. State and local leaders say they have crime under control.
