Ford Motor Co.’s chief executive officer said the tariff relief President Donald Trump extended to automakers is “reasonable” and “the right thing to do” while indicating more is needed to fully address the impact of his levies.

Trump's administration will alleviate some duties imposed on foreign parts in domestically manufactured cars and keep tariffs on cars made abroad from piling on top of other ones.

A slower phase-in for tariffs on auto parts will give manufacturers time to ramp up manufacturing in the U.S. Some warn they will still drive up car prices.
