Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has withdrawn from the Champions Trophy for personal reasons, leaving the squad without its three frontline quicks for the ODI tournament in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

With all three of Australia's frontline pacers missing, the team will feature a completely revamped pace attack as they prepare to face England in Lahore on February 22.

Australia have suffered another significant blow with pacer Mitchell Starc set to miss the 2025 Champions Trophy due to personal reasons. Steve Smith will lead the side in the absence of the injured Pat Cummins.

Mitchell Starc has joined Australia’s Champions Trophy exodus as selectors settled on a new-look squad for the tournament, also locking in Steve Smith as captain. Starc, who is missing the event in Pakistan for personal reasons, joins fellow star pacemen Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood on the sidelines.

"We understand and respect Mitch's decision," George Bailey, chair of men's selectors, said of Starc who will also miss the two ODIs in Sri Lanka. "Mitch is deeply respected for his commitment to international cricket and the priority he places on performing for Australia.
