Grenfell Tower will be demolished, bereaved families have been told. Angela Rayner, the Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Secretary, met relatives and survivors on Wednesday evening. The Government had previously said there would be no changes to the site before the eighth anniversary of the disaster,

But Grenfell United, which represents some of the bereaved and survivors of the June 2017 fire, claimed the voices of many loved ones had been ignored. They said they had repeatedly urged housing secretaries over the years to “consult the bereaved and survivors meaningfully before reaching a decision on the tower”.

The government has previously said there will be no changes to the site before the eighth anniversary of the fire disaster, which claimed 72 lives  on 14 June 2017.
