No direct connection to the actual park lands, but he was born downstream in Clarksburg, WV, and then when his mother got sick, went to live with his uncle, who owned a gristmill on the West Fork River, even closer downstream, or several miles downstream of the Stonewall Jackson Dam, just north of Weston, which is now named Jackson's Mill. He bounced between Clarksburg and Jackson's mill a bit growing up, as did his sister. His sister became a staunch unionist and spent most of her life in Harrison County.
