Hi there, you can do the isle of Pines, baie d'Oro etc in a day trip however i would suggest you take a little more time there and really soak up the environment. we stayed at Kuobugny and loved it. the restaurant sits literally right on the beach and watching the sunset from there every night was pretty special. Be warned though all of New Caledonia is very expensive and the isle of Pines is no exception. If you can manage it try to stay there when there are no cruise ships in as that really spoils the place - crowded with tourists. We decided to take an outrigger style boat up through Upi bay to baie d'oro and then walked through the rainforest to the swimming pool. we then walked back later past the Meridian and had a seafood feast on the shore which was a highlight of out trip. There is really not much to see and do in Noumea but it is a good base to travel to some of the outer islands. If you have some French then traveling around Grande Terre by car is a fabulous way to see this gorgeous country. Have a wonderful holiday.
