The railway accepts reservations. I'm not sure if they are required. However, with reduced capacity to maintain distancing, one would be taking a chance that there would be no seats available without reservations. Call the museum for confirmation: (775) 289-2085.
I see some people have said the train runs during a new moon, for no light pollution, but it actually runs each Friday from May-August. Can someone clarify that? If the moon is full or high in the sky, does it affect the viewing in the national park?

Tracy, due to the popularity of the Star Trains we now operate every Friday night in 2020 from mid-May through mid-September. On occasion there will be a full moon, we don't consider that to be light pollution since it is a celestial body. There are a lot of variables in play here most of which Mother Nature controls from possible clouds on the viewing night to where the moon. planets and stars are in their respective obit. And for clarification the train does not go to the park. We bring the rangers to the train.
Is the “star train” still active? I can’t find information on it anywhere. Thanks

The current schedule is at their website which I can't post here! Search for "Northern Nevada Railway star train" and you should find it. The next one is Friday, June 7, 2019.
