Cape Town’s Premier Community Theatre, voted “Best Theatre” by Cape Town Experiences and boasting a full, diverse and entertaining line up all year round! The Masque Theatre was founded by Muizenberg local; Bertie Stern in 1959 with the aim to encourage participation in theatre by the wider community. In 1993 Bertie bequeathed the Masque into trust for the benefit and growth of community theatre. The Masque was totally destroyed by fire in 1997, and took two years to rebuild - a feat which would not have been possible without the generosity of the late Joan St Leger-Lindbergh. The Masque is now a first-class venue, seating 173, able to host live shows (musicals, dramas, dancing, etc.), seminars, presentations, film shows, and much more!
